At Lightwoods Primary Academy we believe that school uniform is essential in cementing pride in our school community and promoting a collaborative learning environment.
Our school uniform is designed to be both comfortable and smart and is consistent across all Primary Academies within the Trust.
It would help us greatly if you would follow the uniform guidelines below to help fortify our message and support your child’s collaborative learning experiences. To help us when things get lost or forgotten, please ensure that all items are labelled clearly with your child’s name.
There are slight variations between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 uniforms, for example our ties are not compulsory at KS1, so please make sure that your child has the correct uniform in respect to their relevant Key stage.

Reading folders
Reading folders are needed throughout school, regardless of your child’s year group. This is used for their reading books, homework and letters to and from school. Reading folders should be brought in daily and checked at home regularly so that you don’t miss out on any key information from the school.
Water bottles
Clear water bottles are to be used for water to be consumed at break times and throughout the day.
Jewellery
Jewellery is not allowed in school for safety reasons, children may, however, wear a watch. If a pupil is required to wear jewellery for religious reasons, the safety implications should be discussed with the Head Teacher and wrist bands used to cover up loose bangles.
Hair
Children’s hair should be neat and not restrict their vision. Long hair may need to be tied back during the school day. Hairbands, grips and religious hair coverings need to be in the school colours of dark green or grey.
Hairstyles are a part of our school uniform. Hairstyles should be practical, smart and not cause a distraction. Which we accept that some hairstyles may be a result of religion and/or beliefs, extreme hairstyles which include but are not limited to; shaved patterns, tramlines, etc are not permitted within the school.
Make-up
Children are not allowed to wear make-up or nail varnish in school.
Lost Property
The school will not be responsible for any loss of uniform, jewellery or anything else your child brings into school. It is their responsibility to look after their items. A lost and found box can be found at both sites. Please ensure that all of your child’s items are clearly labelled with their name so that any of their lost property can be returned.
Indoor trainers with suitable soles (not black) may now be worn in the sports hall for games activities. Trainers worn for outdoor activities should NOT be worn in the sports hall. Younger pupils should continue to wear black pumps.
We have partnered with Kings Oak Uniform Bank – to enable a regular, organised uniform swap and availability for parents.
