Since joining Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust in June 2021, a new era has begun at Lightwoods Primary Academy. Together with the Trust we are working to make continued developments throughout the school both in terms of education and relationships with the wider school community. This is a fantastic opportunity to come with us on the start of this journey, to help shape our academy for years to come.

Apply for a reception place - September 2025
If your child is due to start Reception in September 2025, we are excited to welcome you to our school! Below is an overview of the application process to secure a place for your child.
Key dates:
- Application Deadline: 15 January 2025
- Offer Day: 16 April 2025 – you will be notified of your child’s allocated school place.
How to apply:
- Online application: Applications for Reception places must be submitted through your local council’s online school admissions system. Visit the council’s website and complete the form within the given deadlines. Information for Sandwell local authority admissions >>
- Information required: Ensure you have the following details ready:
- Your child’s full name, date of birth, and home address
- Parent or guardian’s contact information
- Your top school preferences – you may list several schools, make sure you put your preferred school at the top of the list.
Primary School Place (In Year Transfer)
To request a primary school place at Lightwoods Primary School you will need to make a formal application through the Admission’s Team at Sandwell Council via their website.
