Lightwoods Primary Academy has achieved the Inclusive Attendance Bronze Award, recognising its commitment to developing strong attendance practice and ensuring pupils and families receive the support they need to thrive.
The award was presented during a Trust-wide Inclusive Attendance Conference, held at the new Shireland Training Centre in Oldbury. The event brought together academy leaders and attendance teams from across the Trust to celebrate progress, share best practice and prepare for the next stage of the Inclusive Attendance Standard programme.
The Bronze Award recognises schools that have established strong foundations for inclusive attendance through effective systems, shared understanding and a whole-school approach that places pupils and families at the centre of decision-making.
As part of the programme, Lightwoods Primary Academy reviewed its approach to attendance, reflected on current practice and explored how staff can continue working together to provide a consistent and supportive experience for pupils and families.
The school’s work reflects the importance of creating an environment where pupils feel a strong sense of belonging, families feel supported and staff have the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to individual circumstances.
By continually reviewing and refining its approach, Lightwoods Primary Academy is ensuring every pupil is encouraged and supported to make the most of the learning, relationships and opportunities that come from being part of school life.
Following this achievement, the Academy will continue its development through the Silver Award stage of the Inclusive Attendance Standard programme, building on existing strengths and identifying further opportunities to strengthen practice.

Regular attendance gives children the opportunity to build friendships, develop their confidence and take part in all aspects of school life.

The Bronze Award is the first stage of the Inclusive Attendance Standard Programme and recognises schools that have demonstrated a clear commitment to inclusive attendance practice through professional development, reflection and implementation.
